MARY'S HOMESTEAD

7 DAY- DEPRESSION-  MENU

WEEK NUMBER ONE   MENU.

The mission of the Mary's Homestead-7-DAY-DEPRESSION-MENU is to provide you with a one week of  7 days menus of  3 meals per day. This menu is from Sunday through Saturday. This is a low cost healthful menu that will provide your family with a week worth of meals that no one will be hungry.

The menu is for a family of 4 persons. Many of the recipes link to a different page on our website . http://www.maryshomestead.com .

Most of the recipes are like the good old fashioned home cooking. That is the way to save money and provide a frugal way of life. This menu is similar to the way they ate in the world war 1 and 2.

The USDA cost of food for one person for one week is $36.00. (approximately). Each age is a different cost. I have researched that a family of 2 persons, age 19-50 is $85.60 for one week, age 51-70 is $81.50 a week.  A family of 4 persons, couple and children, (children, age 2-3 & 4-5 years  is  $124.60. If the children are 6-8, and 9-11 years: $124.60.  This amount changes every month. Please go to;

http://www.cnpp.usda.gov

THEN CLICK ON: USDA FOOD PLANS COST OF FOOD.

When you go shop at the grocery store you will find that the prices are higher each time you visit . Shredded cheese was $1.80 in May, 2011,  and now it has gone up to $2.58 a pound and it keeps going up each time  you go to the store. The menu I have made is very fugal and low cost and you will have some money left on that Thrifty plan . You may  take the extra you save and buy a few extra kinds of food and save money. Mary's Homestead has some links to help you with preserving your food you buy at farmers markets and the grocery store. There is still some time for fall harvesting in some places if you have some produce in your gardens.  There are many foods that you can buy at the grocery store that you can can, dry or freeze.

Please enjoy  :

I CAN , FREEZE AND DRY FOODS ALL YEAR . THE BEST TIME IS THE GROWING SEASON FROM MARCH TO NOVEMBER. HOWEVER, THERE ARE MANY FOODS THAT YOU CAN BUY ALL YEAR AROUND AND YOU CAN ALWAYS FREEZE THEM. BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A GENERATOR IF THE ELECTRIC GOES OUT BECAUSE OF A DISASTER FOR USING YOUR FREEZER.

BUY ON SALE TO SAVE MONEY. STOCK UP ON A FEW EXTRA AND GET AHEAD OF THE HIGH PRICE OF FOOD. BE PREPARED  AND HAVE SOME EXTRA FOR THE WINTER MONTHS WHEN THE WEATHER IS BAD AND YOU CAN NOT LEAVE YOUR HOME.

I SHOP AT THE LOWEST COST STORES. IN MY LOCATION THAT IS WAL MART AND MOST OF THE DOLLAR STORES.

I spend a lot of time checking out  the current prices  at the grocery store. I write the prices down each time  it goes up and I record it. It seems like I take a long time shopping and checking the best prices but I was raised in a grocery store in the mountains of Colorado in my childhood and I love shopping. I try to get the best price I can for the quality of the food I buy.

HOMEMADE FOOD TASTES BETTER AND IS HEALTHY AND IT IS WONDERFUL!

PLEASE ENJOY THE MARY'S HOMESTEAD 7-DAY-

DEPRESSION- MENU.
